The problem

General field service software treats every job the same

Off-the-shelf field service platforms are built for a job that starts and ends with an invoice. HVAC work carries more than that. A refrigerant log the EPA can ask to see. A load calculation behind the equipment sized. A maintenance contract with visits owed against it.

Contractors work around this with a spreadsheet for compliance records and a filing cabinet for signed agreements. A technician shows up to a job with no idea a unit is still under contract. A compliance record goes missing right when an inspector asks for it.

The hardest part

A heat wave should not be the day the schedule falls apart

HVAC demand is seasonal in a way most field service businesses are not. A stretch of extreme heat or a sudden cold snap can double call volume in a single day. Every one of those calls is a no-cooling or no-heat emergency to the person making it.

A dispatch board sized for a normal week does not flex. Calls queue and technicians run over their routes. The office falls back to a phone tree that cannot see who is closest or who is already booked solid.
