Overview

People already have thousands of restaurant choices. The problem is getting them to try somewhere new. Offline turns discovery into a monthly habit. Members get credits each month, browse hand-picked local spots in the app, and redeem those credits when they visit. Hashlogics helped build the marketplace that runs that loop.

The challenge

The problem we set out to solve.

01

Restaurant lists offered endless choice without a reason to act.

02

A paid membership needed exact handling of monthly credits, rollover, and restaurant supply.

03

It had to work across many cities while keeping each member's feed local.

04

Deciding where to eat happens between friends, so discovery had to feel social.

What success needed to look like

  • Turn trying new restaurants into a monthly habit.
  • Make credits simple to grasp and redeem.
  • Match spots to each member's location and taste.
  • Open new markets without rebuilding the product.
  • Send restaurant partners traffic they can count.
Our approach

How we delivered it.

  1. 01

    Diagnose

Mapped both sides: members hunting for something new, and restaurants that want new faces, not discounted regulars.

  2. 02

    Design

Built the whole journey around one loop: get credits, find a spot, visit, redeem, repeat.

  3. 03

    Build

Developed membership, discovery, matching, maps, offers, and redemption across every city.

  4. 04

    Launch

Built city switching into the data model, so a membership keeps working when a member travels to another Offline city.

  5. 05

    Run

Added friend connections, referral rewards, sharper filters, and new markets.

The solution

What we built.

Offline manages a running relationship between the member, the restaurant, and the membership itself. Members get two credits a month, browse the curated list, claim an offer, and spend their credits at the table. Matching, maps, cuisine filters, and friend features close the gap between "where should we eat?" and a booked night out.

Membership billing with monthly credits and rollover
A curated restaurant catalog with rich profiles
Restaurant matching tuned to each member
Map discovery with cuisine and location filters
Offer claiming and at-the-table redemption
A membership that travels with the member
Referral rewards
Friend connections and shared planning
Offline how-it-works page with app screens for exploring, choosing, and redeeming restaurant credits
The member loop: join, pick spots, redeem credits at the table, repeat next month.
Offline sign-up for the Charlotte market with phone, Google, and Apple options
City-scoped onboarding: each member joins their local market.

For the restaurants

New customers, not discounted regulars.

Offline reports that up to 90% of the customers it sends a partner restaurant are first-time visitors. That figure is Offline's own, not ours. It also explains why restaurants stay: the membership sends people who would not have walked in on their own.

The takeaway

Listing restaurants is easy. The hard part is the money loop around discovery. Credits, matching, restaurant supply, and redemptions all have to stay in step for the product to feel as simple as "pick somewhere new and go."
